Driver Licence Medicals Supporting Your Return to the Road
If you need a medical certificate as part of your driver licensing process, we’re here to help.
SECTION 65 ASSESSMENTS
NZTA Return of Licence Medicals
If you’ve been disqualified from driving under Section 65 of the Land Transport Act 1998, you may be eligible to reapply for your licence after serving the minimum disqualification period.
Part of that process involves a medical assessment from an approved provider.
Dr Whiteside is a specialist Occupational Medical Physician and Terrace Medical Clinic is an NZTA-approved Drug & Alcohol Assessment Centre for the Wellington region.
We work with individuals who have a history of alcohol- or drug-related offending, assessing medical fitness to drive and providing the necessary supporting evidence, including blood tests, written reports, and recommendations to NZTA.
HEAVY VEHICLE LICENCE MEDICALS
DL9 Medical Certificates
We also offer the standard NZTA medical assessment required when applying for or renewing a Class 2, 3, 4 or 5 heavy vehicle licence.
This includes:
A general medical assessment
Any additional tests required based on your health history
Completion of the DL9 form for submission to NZTA
If you're unsure which licence class or medical requirement applies to you, you can check Factsheet 11 on the NZTA website.
